Abstract. Eagleton GE. 2022. A daylength-neutral winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) for Southern Australian latitudes. Asian J Agric 6: 68-78. In the summer of 2019, on central coast NSW, Australia (at Latitude 34°S), an early-maturing genotype tropical legume crop, tetragonolobus (L.) DC.), was detected among a range late-maturing accessions. The performance this accession, MY0-01 from Bago in Myanmar, evaluated staked plots alongside one other accession Myanmar and two island New Guinea planted three successive occasions between October late November 2020 split-plot experiment. Across planting dates, mean number days to first open flower MYO-01 ranged 68 82 + s.e. 3.2 compared with 119 167 accumulated seed yield obtained equated 3.1 t ha-1, but by third November, only half as much. Among four accessions, second amount lower stem branching tuber yield, smallest pods hardest seeds. Hard seededness creates difficulties germination plant establishment is limitation MYO-01, are its small pods, which lowers potential vegetable production. Investigating genetic control photoperiod insensitivity combining ability pod characteristics relevant sub-tropical latitudes developing stable early maturity cultivars tropics.
